RHODESIAN RIDGEBACK

PURCHASE RHODESIAN RIDGEBACK PRODUCTS HERE

Originally used in South Africa, the Rhodesian was used for hunting lions and large game, they are a versatile breed with a fierce protective instinct and good speed for the hunt. The distinctive mark on the back is formed by a ridge of hair which grows backwards along the back bone, beginning with a sort of "fan shape" across the shoulders and funning all the way along the top of the backbone. This is the single most outstanding physical characteristic of this breed and the Rhodesian without a distinctive "ridge" shows evidence of poor breeding.

The Rhodesian has very few health problems. However as with all large breeds, there may be a propensity for hip dysplasia, and this dog should be xrayed before being used for breeding.

The Rhodesian is a sweet family pet, although a bit stubborn and needing a human who is definitely the pack leader, he loves his family and is not considered a "one person" dog. He is devoted and loyal to his family and as an adult is a quiet and dignified companion dog.
